Recently, Enterprise Communications Europe, brought together industry leaders from Aastra, Avaya, Cisco, Jabra, Quocirca and RADVISION to discuss the future of Unified Communications.
The six executives from companies leading the way in Unified Communications may be competitors in some markets, but see the value in joining together to discuss hot topics in the industry.

I don’t think that as an industry we have an opportunity to discuss these things together often enough, and as an industry I believe we need to be a lot more thorough about what we define as Unified Communications and what we can offer to our end customers – in terms of Return-on-Investment.” Hugh Scholaert, Regional Group President, Aastra.

Eastern DataComm is proud to partner with Cisco. At the Roundtable event, ECE sat down for a one-on-one interview with Tim Stone, Cisco’s collaboration marketing director for European markets. In the interview, Stone offers some great insight into where the UC industry might be headed.
A few trends he mentioned were the consumerization of IT in that businesspeople are starting to “bring their own mobile or Mac devices into the workplace and also expect to use some of the tools they use at home at work.” Mobility is key, as individuals look for flexible working environments, allowing them to work from home, stone says.
